For most foreign residents, the process of getting married in Taiwan
is a simple trip to the local household registration agency. If you have
the right documents, you can be married in as little as fifteen
minutes. This post is the most comprehensive list around of what you need to prepare.

Documents required for a Foreign National and Taiwanese National to Register Marriage in Taiwan
Go to your household registration office, get a ticket, go to the counter when your number is called, hand all of those over. You'll be given some forms to sign and then be officially married in Taiwan!
During the process, the Taiwanese spouse will receive a new National ID Card with the foreign spouse's name on it.
You can also request a new copy of the household registration, and marriage certificates in Chinese or English.

Documents required for a Foreign National and Taiwanese National to Register Marriage in Taiwan
- Original Single Status Certificate/Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage/Affidavit of Single Status, Authenticated and Legalised for use in Taiwan
- Certified Chinese Translation of the above certificate
- Passport
- (unconfirmed) Normally, the most recent entry stamp in your passport is checked. If you use eGate to enter the country, you may require a Certificate of Entry and Exit dates from the NIA
- ARC
- Declaration to Adopt a Chinese Name (A copy of the form can be provided on the day by the Household Registration Office, but be sure you can write your Chinese name)
- Marriage Agreement (結婚書約)
- (For Taiwanese) National ID Card
- (For Taiwanese) Copy of Household Registration
- (For Taiwanese) Personal Seal
- (For Taiwanese) Passport photo, for new National ID Card
